Leaving with real workplace confidence
Throughout their course, students build a personalised job search and interview strategy, hear from guest speakers across a range of industries, and get direct introductions to the employers and recruitment partners we work with closely. It is common for our graduates to secure roles ahead of university graduates, particularly where employers understand the practical, hands-on focus of our training.
Over the past few years, John D Wood & Co. has built a close working relationship with Quest Professional. I am the Head of Recruitment, and I regularly go in to visit the students to tell them all about what types of roles we offer here, as well as helping them with their mock interviews. We have hired multiple students from Quest onto our Summer Internship Programme as well as into various entry level roles. I really enjoy working with Quest and meeting all the wonderful students, particularly as I went to Quest myself in 2010, so I have come full circle!

We track exactly what happens to our leavers - and the results hold up well against the national school leaver and graduate picture, even though our students haven't spent three years and taken on university debt to get there.
Employment Rate
Starting Salary
Quest leavers typically start on £27k–£35k - that's over £7,400 more than the UK-wide median for 18-21 year-old workers, and broadly in line with the UK graduate average of £30,030, without three years of university and student debt.
UK graduate figures: HESA Graduate Outcomes 2023/24 survey, measured 15 months after completing a degree (81% in employment; £30,030 average salary). A-Level leaver figure: DfE 16-18 destination measures, share of A-Level (or equivalent) leavers moving directly into employment rather than further or higher education. UK 18-21 salary figure: ONS Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings, median gross annual pay for full-time employees aged 18-21 (April 2025). Quest figures are based on our own recorded outcomes for recent leavers, measured eight weeks after completing their course (typical range £27k–£35k; £31,000 midpoint used for comparison).
Other Destinations
Not every leaver goes straight into work
Some of our students go on to university afterwards - including taking up a deferred place secured before joining Quest - using their time with us to build skills and confidence alongside, or ahead of, further academic study.
