10 Steps to Finding the Right Career for You
Finding career direction is one of the most challenging parts of looking for your first job. Before you start applying, you need to know what you might like to do.

Step 1
Think about what you enjoy, and ways you could make a career out of it.
Step 2
Talk to people working in your preferred industry - they may be able to give you tips to help your job hunt.
Step 3
Look into a training course. If you don't have relevant skills or experience, it's worth taking a course to help you get on the right track.
Step 4
Think about what you want to achieve. Do you want to work in a small or large business? Travel or work overseas? Setting goals makes it easier to find a role that suits you.
Step 5
Do some work experience. A placement in your chosen field shows you how the industry works first hand, and helps build your CV.
Step 6
Create a professional network. Get to know people in the industry who may be able to refer you to jobs and introduce you to the right people.
Step 7
Try something new: learn a new skill or research different industries outside your comfort zone. You never know what you might discover.
Step 8
Think about your working environment. Would you prefer an office, or somewhere more active? Knowing what you thrive in is key to finding a role that suits you.
Step 9
What's your personality? Are you good at talking to people, or a great listener? Try to match your personal strengths to a career you'd be good at.
Step 10
Do what you love! It's so important to be happy at work - whatever you end up doing, make sure it's something you enjoy.
